The Robomum is certainly a brilliant machine. She shops, washes and cooks - and quickly learns all James's favourite recipes. She tests him on his spelling, helps with his maths and makes sure he never forgets his swimming kit. But when James gets ill, he soon realizes that a computer could never replace his mum when he really needs her.

Caroline Joy Adams, creator of "Inspirations"—the bestselling series of empowering messages for women that sells nationwide in the form of magnets, framed prints, and posters—has now expanded one of her most popular sayings into a full-length, gorgeously designed gift book. YOU ARE A WOMAN OF WISDOM gives women an exceptionally beautiful forum in which to look at themselves in a new and affirmative light; to truly honor their unique gifts, strengths, accomplishments, and visions; and to celebrate the magnificent selves that they are becoming. In addition to the text, the book includes forty full-page designs of inspiring quotes, by Caroline and others, rendered in Caroline's rich, elegant, colorful, calligraphic style. Another key element is a series of questions to help the reader reflect on her own unfolding journey and pathway to self-discovery. Caroline's powerful message—that each of us is already a woman of wisdom—is one that has already inspired millions.

The study of two great demagogues in American history--Huey P. Long, a first-term United States Senator from the red-clay, piney-woods country of nothern Louisiana; and Charles E. Coughlin, a Catholic priest from an industrial suburb near Detroit. Award-winning historian Alan Brinkely describes their modest origins and their parallel rise together in the early years of the Great Depression to become the two most successful leaders of national political dissidence of their era. *Winner of the American Book Award for History*

Marie-Madeleine Pioche de La Vergne (Comtesse de Lafayette) (1634-1693) was a French writer. She was born in Paris to a family of minor but rich nobility. In 1655, de La Vergne married Francois Motier, Comte de Lafayette, a widowed nobleman some eighteen years her senior, with whom she would have two sons. Settling permanently in Paris in 1659, Lafayette published, anonymously, La Princesse de Montpensier in 1662. Her most famous novel was La Princesse de Cleves, France's first historical novel, first published anonymously in 1678. An immense success, the work is often taken to be a prototype of the early psychological novel.

"The eighty-four drawings on display here, most of them from the artist's own collection, date from between 1953 and 2002 and thus embrace his entire oeuvre, from the early monotypes to the major mythological cycles of later years. This unique retrospective on fifty years of his marvelous drawings fully reveals just how fascinating Twombly's aesthetic approach is and attests to his great talent for invention. Using the simplest of means, a pencil or a ballpoint, crayon and regular wall paint, he has created poetic and archaic worlds: usually as series and often as collages. They live not only on the paper, but also take on a magical life of their own in the mind of the observer."--BOOK JACKET.Title Summary field provided by Blackwell North America, Inc. François Rabelais holds a unique place in the history of world literature, and no more so than for his extraordinary satirical entertainment Gargantua and Pantagruel. Here the first of these volumes is presented in a new and lively translation. Pantagruel recounts the life a popular giant. From his portentous birth and colorful childhood, to his visit to Paris and his travels through Utopia, and not withstanding his enormous appetite, Pantagruel’s history is told with a breathtaking degree of gaiety and wit. Ingeniously coining new expressions, and with an unashamed obsession with bodily functions, Rabelais blends prose and poetry, the sacred and profound, to offer a heady satire of the religious society of his day. The result is a bawdy and brilliant celebration of life.
